Four Fast Ways of Getting That Contract

Four Fast Ways of Getting That Contract A tighter market creates new competition for contract professionals. With more people vying for each open contract, standing apart from the competition is increasingly critical to landing new engagements.

Online resources can play a major role in making new connections and getting noticed by potential partners and clients. Here are some tips to use the Internet in ways that will increase your chances of getting you next training contract.

  1. Become more accessible with a professional Web site. A professional web site allows potential clients to find and learn about you more easily. Additionally, it gives you an opportunity to share information on the wide variety of contract training projects you’ve completed while allowing the customer to select the most relevant projects to review. Create a site that highlights your expertise, including a professional, downloadable resume, a portfolio of your work and contact information.
  2. Actively promote your expertise to training providers. Once you have your professional web site up and running, search for active training companies in your area of interest. Aggressively submit your profile/resume to those training companies that are looking for contract trainers and instructional designers for client projects. Direct them to your web site for additional information. Keep a log and update your profile/resume and keywords based on the position and location you are looking for.
  3. Write, read and respond to training blogs. Start your own blog. A regularly updated training blog with relevant and useful information can promote your expertise as a contract trainer or instructional designer. Get in the habit of reading other training-related blogs and post intelligent comments that will enhance your image to potential employers.
