TrainingFolks Honored at International Conference

The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) honored TrainingFolks for their learning and performance practices at a ceremony and reception during the ASTD 2008 International Conference and Exposition in San Diego. Organizations received awards and citations for excellence in these categories: career development, learning technologies, managing change, organizational learning, performance improvement, technical training, training management, and workplace learning and development. TrainingFolks received recognition for their work with overnight express delivery company Purolator on the creation and implementation of Top Gun University to develop good managers into great leaders.

The Top Gun Program integrates learning with daily, on-the-job activities through a combination of classroom, self-study, peer tutoring, and interactive distance learning. A weighted scoring system based on business results (60 percent) and learning results (40 percent) was put in place to measure participants’ progression from learning to behavior change to improved business results. Currently, data collection for levels 4 and 5 is preliminary; however, initial feedback from participants’ senior managers indicates that the program is having a significant and positive impact on business operations. Participants who have completed the program comment that team meetings are more productive, communication skills are improved, and their ability to achieve business results is now stronger.
